In a quantum leap of faith reaching far beyond mere hope, ‘Great Expectations’ works as an instrument that prepares the viewer for what is to come. This image acknowledges the experience of an awakening, an awakening that demands a shift in direction in order to make room for our expectations.

While the hollowing out of images is an adventurous approach to a two dimensional visual art, the simplification of the images helps to demystify their seemingly complex metaphor. The illusion of hollowness invites the viewers to infuse themselves into the characters. Of course I expect the viewers to suspend their sense of disbelief if only to begin to relate to the image.

It is to miss the point, profoundly so, for the viewers to perceive ‘Great Expectations’ as a vessel in which to stash optimism rather than a receptor to what they yearn for.

You interpret the image as it's intended, it's purpose is to spark the beholder's imagination to the possibilities out there! Stemming from the premise that we create our own reality, we should let our imagination lead us to our desires -- whatever those desires may be. Put differently; there is no limit to what we can achieve -- all limitations are self imposed!

Thanks again for your kind remarks

So amazing, and I hear what you say about awakening.

For some reason it also reminds me of Evard Munch's "The Scream", which is a really good thing! Its one of my favourite paintings!

This makes me think of extra-terrestrial humanoid beings looking over the planet as it awakens, but they are looking at the sun! :)
